You have 2 options depending on your vehicle

  1. The best road is the fully sealed inland road through Mareeba, Mount Molloy, Mount Carbine, Palmer River, Lakefield and on to Cooktown. There are road houses and fuel at Mount Carbine, Palmer River, Lakefield. The trip from Cairns is 330kms and takes 4 – 4.5 hrs depending on your speed.

  2. If you have a 4WD vehicle or off road motorbike you can take the Coastal route along the Bloomfield Track, 32kms of which is unsealed. The trip from Cairns is 245kms and the time it takes depends on conditions but can be less.

Getting To Cooktown

Our park has a top location in the middle of the Town – walking distance to all amenities and attractions – but still surrounded by parkland and open space on 3 sides and with plenty of shady trees.

Hiring a campervan or 4WD with Camping Gear

You can drive your own vehicle to Cooktown or hire a 2WD or 4WD vehicle in Cairns.

There are plenty of camper van hire firms – see https://www.drivenow.com.au/home/campervan-hire to get a good rate.

You can also hire a 4WD with camping gear – see for example http://www.cairns4wdhire.net.au/4wd-campers/, http://www.campersoz.com.au/
